Baked Piroshki (Russian Hand Pie or Pierogi)

yeast (The original recipe called for 2 TBSP yeast)

1/4 cup

warm water

1 1/2 cups

warm milk

2 tsp

sugar

1 tsp

salt

4 tbsp

melted butter (The original recipe called for 4 to 6 tbsp melted butter. I generally use 4 tbsp of melted butter)

3 cups

flour (I use a HARD WHEAT FLOUR. I tried this recipe with a soft wheat flour and found that I needed to add an additional 1/2 to 1 cup of flour )

to 1/2 cup flour (for kneading the dough)

ground meat (beef or pork)

cooked cabbage
