((10 ounces each) Rotel tomatoes (these are diced tomatoes w/ green chiles))

chopped brown onion

garlic (, minced)

whole jalapeno ((quartered, sliced thin, seeds and all))

1/4 tsp

granulated sugar

1/4 tsp

salt

1/4 tsp

ground cumin

1/2 cup

fresh cilantro ((or more, to suit your taste))

the juice from 1/2 of a large lime
