Crisp Double-Dipped Onion Rings

large sweet or yellow onion (thickly sliced into 1/2-inch thick rings)

1 cup

milk

1 tbsp

white vinegar

1/2 cup

sour cream

1 cup

all-purpose flour

1/2 tbsp

black pepper

1 tsp

garlic powder

Oil for frying (I used grapeseed oil - use something with a high smoke point)

1/3 cup

mayo

3 tbsp

ketchup (or to taste)

Hot sauce (to taste (I used a dash of Tabasco))
