sweet cherries (frozen or fresh, see notes)

strawberries (frozen or fresh, see notes)

3/4 cup

granulated sugar (increase for less-ripe fruit)

2 tsp

lemon juice

1 tsp

lemon zest (I used Meyer lemons)

1 tsp

rose water (to taste)

cornstarch

2 tbsp

butter, softened

all-purpose flour, for rolling

egg wash (1 egg whisked with a splash of water)

course sugar, for sprinkling
