garlic cloves, finely minced or 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Dijon mustard

Worcestershire sauce

salt (I use coarse, kosher salt – use slightly less for table salt)

black pepper (I use coarse black pepper – use slightly less for finely ground)

ground meat (I use half ground beef/half ground pork – see note)

ketchup or BBQ sauce (or a combination)

brown sugar

apple cider or red wine vinegar
Would not use saltines. Try bread crumbs instead. Also, try 3/4 beef and 1/4 pork.
