this post brought to you by cort. the content and opinions expressed below are that of thrift diving

1 piece

when i found this piece of wall art

1 serving

i love me a challenge

1 serving

most of their furniture they offer discounts

1 serving

i had no idea what to expect

1 serving

i knew instantly that this was what i was supposed to upcycle

1 serving

before

1 serving

i didn't know at the time what i was going to turn it into

1 serving

i thought i would make something

1 serving

after

1 serving

the print?-not much

1 serving

but this was a challenge

1 T

it was in condition

1 piece

thankfully

1 serving

before

1 serving

at first

1 serving

it was perfect

1 serving

thank god

1 serving

using my miter saw

1 serving

once i evened out one side of edges…

8 pieces

i think they ended up being just over 14" each. once all the cuts were made

1 serving

pretty

1 T

next

1 serving

using only a drill

1 serving

next

1 serving

at first

1 serving

a hammer and nails to secure the two boards together to create a right angle

1 serving

yay

1 serving

maybe this will work

1 serving

later

1 serving

this is what the frame looked like

1 serving

now i had to figure out what to do

1 serving

here's where this project gets even more interesting! 🙂

1 serving

so this coming october i'm participating in challenge. i'm talking pumpkins…door decorations…the works!

1 serving

i loved that the shipping pallets have stamps on them

1 serving

this was perfect

24

the boards fit perfectly! i was able to fit across nicely.

1 serving

i had to fix the spots on the picture frame that got damaged

1 serving

sand first

1 serving

while the paint was drying

1 serving

i watered down the paint a little and then used a towel to wipe off the paint immediately after applying it

1 serving

i alternated colors on the boards

1 serving

once the boards were

1 serving

remember-the picture frame has a nice ledge on which the boards sit. super easy to nail them in

1 T

i smoothed out the cort picture frame and distressed it a little on the edges so the frame would seep through

1 serving

it just didn't match

1 serving

what happened to the print

1 serving

you all know how i love creating new wall art out of printed canvases

1 serving

it's easy to paint over them

1 serving

that's what i did here

1 serving

once the canvas was

1 serving

neighbors walking couldn't help but notice my creative session right there in the driveway. lol

1 serving

but i didn't care who saw me. it was fun

1 serving

something. 😉

1 serving

so let's have another look at the before and after

1 serving

before - as framed wall art

1 serving

we have a “formal” living room

1 serving

before

1 serving

in progress

1 serving

i'll just have to add a center support because i know the kids will be jumping off of it! 🙂

1 rack

that bad boy will crack right down the middle

1 serving

so what do you think

1 serving

did i pass the upcycle challenge? 😉

1 serving

flaunt it friday
