this is one of the most common pot problems encountered by new owners

steam release button is in the down position

turn steam release button counter-clockwise so it goes into the up position

food is stuck on the bottom of the inner pot

clean the inner pot completely. always deglaze after using the ‘saute' function

there isn't enough liquid to create steam and bring the pot to pressure

add more liquid

pot is leaking steam

particularly if you're making a recipe

there will be amounts of steam coming out until the pot is pressurized and the float valve is up. there's no need

however if your pot continues leaking steam

sealing ring has food debris

move steam release handle to the ‘sealing' position

make sure the steam release handle/valve is pushed in properly

you might think your float valve is stuck. but is it

examine your pot lid and note where the normal/down position is when the lid is not on. some models have a red-colored float valve

chopstick to gently push down on the float valve

if your float valve is stuck in the ‘down' position

total cook time = time to come to pressure
