′ long 2× - you can also substitute 7′ long 2xs

′ long 2× - you can also substitute 2x4s

wood filler - natural color

wood stain - i used minwax walnut

polyurethane - i used rustoleum brand water based polyurethane

sander and sand paper - you sand by hand if you want

saw - you don't necessarily need a saw if you have the folks at the hardware store cut the wood to length while you're there. they shouldn't have a problem doing this

power drill - you could try to do this
