john is a long-time poet

since you were just an acorn

dropped by a passing bird

nurtured by the sun and rain

lovers carved their initials in your trunk

made love beneath your leafy canopy

children climbed in your strong boughs

tracts of forest cleared

stark but standing tall

tree song"- beautiful

smoke and chemicals from factories

pollute the air and water

houses flank you on three sides

please show a heart

you were just an acorn

this is a beautiful poem. i love how humanly you depicted the tree

here it is. the last bit was not there in the original story we read as children. they just added that bit here. the rest of it is the story i was refering to

i am a tree hugger

love the leaves

shaded from the blazing sun

as they clear-cut the amazing trees

yes yes and yes. our trees and all of our natural resources are life giving. it is our job and duty to see to it that they are preserved

as long as the oaks live this will be evergreen

i once lived beside a chicken farm and the methane odor from the place was horrifi so were the renegade chickens who managed to escape then found a new life on the outside of the coop

there's so much we do to help restore the health of the earth and all its inhabitants. why won't people listen

john i think that at around i finally questioned my speaking to trees. it just always seemed natural thing to do. i concluded by 23 that trees were people too

my friend the oak

majestic you stand

towering above all

still

century has passed

you grew

but determined and sure

years passed by

birds built nests upon your branches

the world moved on around you

as the population grew

trees felled all around

you remained there all alone

birds and animals displaced

forced to seek new homes

further afield they roamed

away from the encroaching development

but you are trapped

solitary oak

cars rush by uncaring

along the road nearby

you expire a gentle sigh

peaceful existence shattered

but you do not complain

who would listen anyway

even if words you could form

what would you say

stop this thing you call progress

it has gone too far

stop destroying the environment

nurture the land that provides

i know growth is important to mankind

but it must work

but you cannot speak

so your pleas go unheeded

you need other voices to speak

so

protect the environment

i beg you
