of kidney or black beans (I used one of each), drained and rinsed

of no salt-added diced tomatoes (San Marzanos preferred)

bunch of kale, washed, dried, stripped from the central rib and cut into ribbons

chili powder (or more to taste)

ground cumin
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Lime wedges, jalapeño slices, sour cream and fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
