One Pot Baked Ziti

Italian sausage

1/4 cup

Basil, leaves

4 cloves


1 28 ounce can


12 oz

Ziti pasta


Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

1/4 tsp

Red pepper flakes

1 tbsp

Olive oil

1/2 cup

Heavy cream

1 cup

Mozzarella cheese

3/4 cup

Parmesan cheese, grated


  • Use 1lb ground beef & 1lb Italian sausage; 1.5 box pasta; use jar of sauce and still add heavy cream; double cheese; serve with bread soaked in butter, thyme, and parsley

  • Did liquid measurement cup full of pasta with only 2 cups of water . 1/3c of parm and 1/3c cream.

  • I didn't have crushed tomatoes so I used diced tomatoes and threw them in the blender. Wasn't sure when you put the basil in so I added it with the tomatoes. I think you could use ground beef if you didn't have sausage.

  • I made a few adjustments: added Italian seasoning; substituted chicken sausage for the Italian sausage. We didn't have crushed tomatoes on hand, so we used Kirkland diced tomatoes and Kirkland tomato sauce. Trader Joe's chicken Italian sausage with cases removed works well.
